Join NY Business Leaders
to Ensure Clean Water for All New Yorkers!
NYSBC works with key policymakers to identify opportunities for watershed protection and access to clean drinking water for all New Yorkers and our businesses. We then host in-person meetings and short virtual meetings with our representatives on select policy proposals that best safeguard the water our businesses depend on. To learn more about this important work, please email us at water@ny-sbc.org.
In 2024, business leaders supported the following bills, each of which stands to protect our watersheds and drinking water in different ways. We will continue work on many of these bills in 2025.
Green Roof Tax Abatement — S.6409A / A.6901A — VICTORY! This bill passed both houses and was signed into law!
Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) Act — S.8356A / A.8867A — This bill passed the Senate!
Your voice matters! For these meetings, we will provide you will a simple bill summary, but you do not need to be an expert on these bills. The goal of your attendance is to show that New York business actually care about clean water. Such bills often face opposition from large corporations that are not nearly as invested in our environmental and community well-being as you are.
You can join the virtual meetings from your office or home. No experience required. We will orient you before you join. These meetings are between 10 and 30 minutes long and during business hours next week. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more, contact us at water@ny-sbc.org.
Clean water is not just an environmental issue; it is a business imperative. Healthy water systems are essential for sustainable business operations, economic growth, and the well-being of your customers. This is a unique opportunity for you to help shape policies that ensure a thriving future for your business, your community, and our shared environment.
We look forward to hearing from you!
